Love story No. 1: A young woman refuses to marry the man her father has chosen—even though he threatens her life for disobeying him. Why Doesn’t Microcredit Create Entrepreneurs?

The authors of a new book that looks at ways to reduce poverty around the world (and whether they work) have suggested one possible reason why the microcredit model may not be creating more entrepreneurs: It rewards cautiousness.

Microfinance institutions have "rigid rules" that require small loans of a pretty fixed size, a weekly cycle of repayment often starting within one week of loan issuance, and lending to groups whose members keep an eye on each other, say the authors—economists Abhijit V. Banerjee and Esther Duflo.

"There is a clear tension between the spirit of microcredit and true entrepreneurship, which is usually associated with taking risks and, no doubt, occasionally failing," they write. "It has been argued, for example, that the American model, where bankruptcy is (or at least was) relatively easy and does not carry much of a stigma (in contrast with the European model, in particular), has a lot to do with the vitality of its entrepreneurial culture. By contrast, the MFI rules are set up not to tolerate any failure."

When you think of your past love; you may view it as a failure; but when you find a new love, you view the past as a teacher. In the game of love, it doesn't really matter who won or who lost. What's important is that you know when to hold on and when to let go. You know that you love someone when you want him or her to be happy, even if their happiness means that you're not apart of it. The West Indies vs India series starts on 4th June with the T20 match between the two teams at Trinidad. India is a young side as it has given rests to senior players like Tendulkar, Sehwag, Dhoni, Yuvraj and Gambhir. Suresh Raina will lead the team with Harbajan as the vice-captain. It will be the best time for India to test the ability of the future captain as well as the talent of the youngsters.

Match time: 10:00 (local), 14:00 GMT, 19:30 India

West Indies on the other hand is also a young team lead by Darren Sammy. The T20 match will not feature senior players like Gayle, Dwayne Bravo and not even Keiron Pollard. With most of the new faces, Morlon Samuels has come back to the team after a long ban. We can expect an exciting T20 between the two sides.

Players to watch out: For India, captain Suresh Raina and Virat Kohli will be the players to watch. The t20 is a good platform to prove for players like Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma and R Ashwin.

For West Indies, spinner Devendra Bishoo is in a great form. Captain Sammy and Ravi Rampaul are the other two to watch out for. The series may be a last chance to prove for Samuels.

Nanban for Deepavali?Shankar's much awaited multistarrer Nanban (remake of Aamir Khan's Bollywood blockbuster 3 Idiots) will reportedly grace theatres this Deepavali.

The film is making brisk progress and the producers have confirmed that it will be a Deepavali 2011 release.

In the film, Vijay will appear as the unorthodox genius Rancchod Das, which was played by Aamir Khan. Jiva and Srikanth will appear as the naïve Farhan Qureshi and Raju Rastogi, which were played by Madhavan and Sharman Joshi respectively. S.J. Suryah will play the role of Chatur (Omi Vaidya). Ileana D'Cruz will appear in the role played by Kareena Kapoor and Sathyaraj will appear as the insensitive professor Virus, played by Boman Irani.

It's almost confirmed. And only an official announcement has to be made. That 'Nanban', the Vijay-Srikanth-Jeeva starrer directed by Shankar, will see the light of the day on the day of lights- Deepavali.

A Tamil remake of Hindi blockbuster 'Three Idiots', 'Nanban' is busy taking shape in Coimbatore, Ooty, Andaman and Amsterdam. "Most parts of the shoot are over and Shankar will commence post-production soon," say sources.

New Delhi Ramlila grounds, the traditional venue for the autumnal festival of good and evil that involves burning effigies of a 10-headed mythological demon king, has increasingly become the place to rally people against government corruption.

Baba Ramdev will begin a proposed hunger strike in New Delhi’s Ramlila grounds on Saturday.

Police expect over 100,000 people to show up on Saturday, when—barring some breakthrough with the Congress-led government this evening—the maverick yoga guru Baba Ramdev will begin a proposed hunger strike to push the government to bring back black money that Indians have stashed in tax havens abroad.

With the event less than 24 hours away, the site has been bustling with activity as scores of men have been working round the clock to set up facilities for this political carnival. Already, on Friday, tens of thousands had amassed there.

According to a spokesman for Baba Ramdev's Bharat Swabhiman Trust (Indian Self-Pride Trust), which is organizing the event, the ground has been covered by 250,000 square meters of waterproof tents, and hundreds of whirring fans and taps have been placed at every few meters, to shade those who attend the rally where yoga will be practiced several times a day. The weather department has predicted temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius for Saturday.
